IdeaConnect ("we", "us") is a platform where people share ideas and find collaborators and investors. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have.
01 Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account & profile: name, email, password, role (Idea Owner, Investor, Collaborator), headline, bio, location, skills, profile and cover photos.
- Content you post: ideas, posts, stories, comments, media uploads, tags, and the "looking for" signals you attach.
- Connections & messaging: the people you connect with, your direct messages, voice notes, reactions, and scheduled calls.
- Interest & investment signals: when you express interest in an idea, including optional notes and indicative amount ranges.
- Support & communications: messages you send us, reports you file, and survey or feedback responses.
Information collected automatically
- Device & usage: device type, OS, app version, IP address, language, and how you interact with features.
- Diagnostics: crash logs and performance data to keep the app stable.
- Cookies & similar tech on our website (see Section 10).
Information from third parties
- Sign-in providers (e.g. Google, Apple) if you choose to use them — we receive your name, email, and a token, per your settings with that provider.
- Service providers that help us with analytics, infrastructure, and fraud/abuse prevention.
02 How we use your information
- Provide, operate, and personalize IdeaConnect — including matching you with relevant ideas, collaborators, and investors.
- Enable core features: posting, discovery, messaging, scheduling, notifications, and interest signals.
- Keep the community safe — detect spam, abuse, and policy violations, and act on reports.
- Communicate with you about activity, security, and product updates (you can opt out of non-essential messages).
- Analyze usage to improve features and performance.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
03 Legal bases (EEA/UK)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on these bases:
- Contract — to provide the service you sign up for.
- Legitimate interests — to secure the platform, prevent abuse, and improve features, balanced against your rights.
- Consent — for optional things like marketing emails or certain cookies; you can withdraw it anytime.
- Legal obligation — to comply with applicable laws.
05 Your choices & rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your data, and to object to certain uses. You can:
- Edit your profile and control post visibility in-app at any time.
- Manage notification and privacy preferences in Settings.
- Request a copy of your data, or delete your account, from Settings → Account or by contacting us.
- Block and report other users, and set your account to private.
To exercise a right, email our privacy team. We'll verify your request and respond within the timeframe required by law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
06 Data retention
We keep personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. After you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements.
07 Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to safeguard your data and to notify you and regulators of incidents where required. See our Security page for details.
08 Minors
IdeaConnect is not directed to children. You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to create an account, and features involving investment may require you to be 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from children below the applicable age; if we learn we have, we will delete it.
09 International transfers
We may process and store information in countries other than your own. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms.
11 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product and laws evolve. We'll post the new version here with a revised date and, for material changes, notify you in-app or by email.
